St Kitts & Nevis

The duel nation of St Kitts and Nevis is probably exactly how you're imagining it. This is a tropical paradise made-up of sun-kissed white sand beaches, palm trees that sway in the cool gentle sea breeze, a friendly local community with a vibrant culture and cuisine, and some of the best resorts the Caribbean has to offer. Although these islands are best known for their beaches, away from the coast you can find some wonderful hiking trails that will take you through jungles, past groups of inquisitive green vervet monkeys, and if you’re feeling adventurous, up to the summit of the imposing dormant volcano of Mount Liamuiga. As you may have guessed, this is a destination with more than one side to it. It's not like the Bahamas where snorkelling and sunbathing is the main activity. But instead in St Kitts and Nevis you can be swimming with sea turtles in the morning, hiking to jungle waterfalls in the afternoon, and then enjoying delicious locally caught seafood and cocktails in the island’s capital during the evening. It's no surprise then that many tourists who leaves St Kitts and Nevis are not only longing for the next time they can return, but also claiming that this nation is the whole vacation ‘package’. And with a population of just over 50,000 people, this is a Caribbean destination where you can still get away from the crowds. Even more so by visiting the unspoiled, pristine, and barely populated island of Nevis, where you may even get the chance to enjoy a beach all to yourself. Now that’s a rarity in this region.
