1. Ilario’s

Pizza peels and cast-iron pans adorn the walls alongside a wine rack displaying its wares – it’s Italian and homely. Yet whilst this place doesn’t have outdoor seating, don’t fret – the warm and cozy atmosphere inside will draw you in immediately.

The menu features Italian classics like pasta and lasagna and everything is made from scratch with the freshest of ingredients. Locals swear by their Stromboli and Shrimp Alfredo, and like any classic family style restaurant you are provided warm rolls and herb oil for dipping. That’s always going to be a big plus point for us.

They even have a build your own pasta menu where you can select your pasta, choice of sauce and filling. And one of the best parts – you can tell they care about their clientele as the menu features dishes named after the customers who initially created them!

Ilario’s often runs special menus for various holidays too, so if you’re passing by Kyle during any holiday it may be worth dropping in to see what the menu is like. However they often have deals on regular days too, although considering the massive pizzas you get served here, you’re unlikely to need a deal to feel like you’ve got your money’s worth.

Open from 11am to 10pm, expect great Italian food, knowledgeable and friendly servers, and an owner that’s open to feedback.

As an added bonus, Ilario’s also undertakes catering assignments and even has a separate menu for bulk orders. So, if you’re planning your next big bash, you can look to Ilario’s for some Italian comfort food!

Keto friendly!

There’s a separate menu for kids, adorably called the ‘calf’ menu which features dino nuggets and grilled cheese. There’s a wide variety of beverages to choose from too – from Mexican coke to milkshakes.

The restaurant is open from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Sadly, they’re closed on Sunday, so you’ll have to wait a day longer to get your burger fix.

5. Los Vaqueros Cafe and Grill

The home of Tex-Mex in Kyle, Los Vaqueros is a great addition to the dining scene in Kyle. Located in a quaint bungalow that gives this restaurant a family friendly feel, there’s also plenty of options for outdoor dining here thanks to the covered patio. As an added bonus Los Vaqueros also has live music with bands and DJs on popular evenings.

The furniture is a hodgepodge of metal and wooden chairs, upholstered booths and wooden benches, which only adds to the homely aesthetic of the place. As does the fairy lights hanging from the rafters and various rancher themed trinkets dotting the walls.

As for what we recommend, well you must order the guacamole while dining here. Now it may sound strange recommending a side, but their fresh guacamole is known as being some of the best in the region. Other menu highlights have to be the grill which is available by the pound. From asada to barbacoa to al pastor, this restaurant does it all.

Apart from the grill, the menu also features the usual tacos, enchiladas and gorditas. There is plenty of customization available when it comes to ordering as well, and a lot of menu options, so don’t be afraid to ask your server for recommendations. But of course make sure you round off your meal with a traditional Mexican Horchata.

The service here is excellent, with fresh, hot food arriving quickly even when the place is packed, whilst everyone from the hostess to the server makes you feel right at home.

The servers themselves are very attentive and you’ll almost never have to ask for a refill on that coffee or more salsa for those chips. All of which makes this place an easy addition to our best restaurants in Kyle, TX list.

6. Aviator Pizza and Draft House

Aviator Pizza and Draft House has a history of creating tasty pizza that dates back more than 30 years! A locally owned and operated Texan joint, they have six outlets across the Austin area. The Kyle outlet has an industrial look with chalkboard menus, Edison bulbs and aluminum counters. It’s a very trendy place, only made better by the beer garden they have.

And as a draft house this restaurant also boasts a huge selection of craft beers and wines – all brewed in Texas. In fact there are over 50 options on tap!

Back to the pizza, the dough is prepared daily from scratch and the toppings are all freshly procured. The Buffalo Chicken Pizza is what we would recommend, but they also offer 20 more different styles, and you can even build your own pizza from their list of toppings and cheeses.

Aviator also serves sandwiches, salads and calzones along with a specialty charcuterie board. You can even opt for a gluten free crust, whilst vegan cheese options are available too. So all dietary requirements are covered.

7. Texas Pie Co.

Head chef, Julie Albertson opened her first bakery in 1986, and now at Texas Pie Co. she continues to dish out delicious baked goods from recipes handed down to her by her grandmother.

The main attraction here is of course the display counter which showcases all the lovely pies baked in house. But the decor is pretty eye-catching too – with rolling pins and salad forks displayed on the walls (and ceiling!), which just make this whole place exude the warmth and comfort of a family home. Outside seating is not available, but with such a welcoming atmosphere inside, you’ll be more than happy to dine indoors!

If the name didn’t give it away, Texas Pie Company specializes in pies! From classic pies like pecan, to fruit pies like cherry, to cream pies and key lime pies, there’s a cornucopia of pies to choose from here. They also have quiches and casseroles that are served in house or made to order.

There is also a separate lunch menu featuring sandwiches and salads, all made fresh from the best of ingredients. Daily lunch specials are also available that are served with a salad, homemade roll and iced tea. Don’t forget to complete your meal with a lemon bar, which is a particular favorite.

Texas Pie Co. is open from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. They are closed on Sundays.

This place can get busy as it is one of the best restaurants in Kyle, TX, but the staff are warm, hospitable and this place is well worth visiting. The next time you’re in Kyle make sure you check out this joint! You can have your pie and eat it too.

8. The Railhouse

A live music venue with indoor and outdoor seating, this restaurant and bar also serves up some amazing meat straight off the smoker alongside classic American grub.

The interior is rustic and photogenic with wood paneling and a vaulted ceiling, but perhaps the greatest draw is the outdoor stage and attached dance floor where many a country classic has been played. There’s plenty of activity with an indoor pool table and arcade machine, and this place is even kid and pet friendly till 9:00 p.m.

When we last visited there were two food trucks catering to patrons at The Railhouse. The barbecue menu is courtesy of Courson’s Barbecue while Badass foods is responsible for gourmet burgers, wings and sandwiches.

Courson’s does barbecue the Texas way, with the primary seasonings being salt and pepper. One thing you can’t miss here is the pulled pork sandwich – its so good, even the bands playing at The Railhouse recommend it! The house made fresh sides are also brilliant, featuring potato salad, beans and mac n’ cheese. Bars are located at several points throughout the bar so you’ll always stay topped up too.

If you’re in the mood for some fine tunes and some finer food, look no further than The Railhouse. Something always seems to be happening here, which makes it one of the best restaurants in Kyle, TX for entertainment and music!
