Our Top Eight Picks For The Best Restaurants In Hatch End

1. The Steak Restaurant

A variety of steaks, including halal cuts, offered in a cosy and romantic atmosphere with heated outdoor seating

Nothing beats a good steak seared to perfection with a juicy pink centre, and that’s exactly what you get when you dine at The Steak Restaurant.

Not just that, but their dimmed-out dining room full of dark wood accents makes it a great spot for a romantic dinner with your sweetheart. Even better is their outdoor seating arrangement, shaded and enclosed by glass, and heated for you to cosy in and settle down for a warm meal.

A straightforward menu revolving around aged cuts makes the ordering process a breeze, especially with the kind wait staff who are always ready to help.

A variety of starters are offered, including a zingy salmon ceviche that gets your palette ready to experience what’s coming next. Mains revolve around steaks, burgers and a few seafood dishes, and if you’re feeling extravagant, try ordering the beautifully marbled wagyu sirloin – a treat worth splurging for!

On Sundays, you get to experience the expertly roasted, melt-in-the-mouth sirloin beef/chicken for lunch, served with a wonderful Yorkshire pudding, gravy, and potatoes (12 – 4 pm).

Oh and, you’d be surprised to know that they have a full-fledged halal menu, which also includes some of the more expensive cuts and the Sunday roast!

Don’t forget to order a cocktail, especially between the 5-8 pm happy hours offered every day. So drop by any day between 12 -10 pm, and if you’re popping in for dinner, try to book a table in advance – the place can get super busy!

2. Sea Pebbles

Long-running casual fish and chips restaurant with a stylish interior and outdoor seating

Even though it’s one of the most loved foods in all of Britain, a surprising number of places can’t do fish and chips right. Not Sea Pebbles though – they’ve been dishing out insanely good crispy fillets and chunky fries since way back in 1990, and since then, they’ve been known as one of the best restaurants in Hatch End.

What started as a small, hole-in-the-wall restaurant has now expanded and recently refurbished into a stylish eatery. Sit inside this neat little dining room that’s lined with many tables and paintings along the walls. The other end of the room has a glass ceiling, somewhat like a conservatory, so you’ll always find this buzzy venue to be sunny, bright, and pleasant. Or you just settle on their terrace to savour your meal alfresco.

Although their menu is pretty straightforward, there’s a variety of starters and side dishes you can choose from to mix things up. Start with their homemade, flavorful minestrone soup or one of the seafood options like the homemade fish cakes.

Moving on to the mains, simply pick your favourite fish, choose a side dish – say mushy peas or coleslaw – and let the chefs do the rest. You’ll be presented with a steaming plate of fish with a load of thick fries and a wonderful tartare sauce, along with the side dishes.

There’s even a vegetarian menu, which includes burgers and pasties, and on Mondays, they offer a gluten-free menu too!

Pair your meals with one of their wines or beers, and you’re all set for a hearty meal of some of the best fish and chips you’ve ever had – locals swear by it!

They’re open from Tuesday-Saturday, 11.30 am onwards for lunch and dinner.

3. Social Dhaba

A trendy restaurant serving authentic Indian cuisine and vibrant cocktails with outdoor seating and occasional live music

There’s a reason why Social Dhaba is one of the most popular restaurants in Hatch End. Not only do you get to experience the raging flavours of Indian cuisine in its authentic form, but the classy and contemporary atmosphere makes this a buzzy venue for meetups and dates.

Cushioned upholstery, modern light fixtures, a fancy bar, and tables with traditional Indian cutlery add to the electric atmosphere, which is always alive with conversation. They also have a small outdoor seating area that is glass enclosed and elegantly styled. With the occasional live music, it’s quite a nice set-up in there, so no wonder reservations are a must if you want to dine here!

It’s the consistent five-star quality food, though, that keeps this place fully booked and jam-packed with hungry patrons throughout the week.

A whole lot of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes grace the menu, and for starters, we recommend their Avocado and Potato chaat – a very sought-after and creative version of the typical chaat. Or you could sample their non-veg starters by getting the mixed platter that has a variety of meats and seafood.

From the mains, try the fiery and flavourful Tawa Chicken Masala that’s served on a Tawa – a shallow pan used in Indian cuisine. The Keema Mattar is also a traditional favourite and tastes like a carnival in your mouth, which is minced lamb cooked with peas and a sensational blend of spices. No matter what you get, don’t forget to soak those savoury sauces with some Naan and relish every bit of it!

Brunch (Tuesday-Friday) features traditional favourites like parathas and masala omelettes, along with some Indian-style tea – an experience that takes you right within the streetside stalls of India! They’re open between Tuesday-Saturday, 12 pm onwards and Mondays from 5 pm onwards.

4. Dona Theresa

Italian fine dining in a relaxed, white linen tablecloth and candlelight ambience

Although there are quite a few Italian restaurants in Hatch End, we think nothing beats the consistently good quality food and the warm hospitality of the staff at Dona Theresa.

The fine dining ambience of this place is as lovely as it gets, with Venetian landscapes painted on the walls and folded napkins and flowers on every table. Dinners are within a candlelit atmosphere, but even so, the place has a relaxed vibe so dining here is still a comfortable experience despite all the frills. Alongside this, the welcoming and super accommodating host and staff always go out of their way to ensure your meals here are memorable.

As for the menu, it’s pretty comprehensive, but the talented chefs always manage to wow the guests by executing every dish skillfully. Starters involve a lot of seafood, with the king prawns in a garlicky white wine sauce (Gamberoni Frascati) being particularly popular.

Mains are always served in generous and hearty portions, just as any Italian meal should be. The Anatra al Pepe e Miele is a pan-fried duck cooked in a scrummy honey and pepper sauce, and the Saltimbocca di Vitello Alla Romana is a sirloin cut in Madeira wine, both of which are rich in taste and fantastic choices!

There are also plenty of creamy and traditional pasta mains, including an irresistible-looking decadent vegetarian lasagna, and you can request gluten-free pasta as well.

Pair your meals with some of their fine Italian wines and end on a high (and sweet) note with their scrumptious Tiramisu. What else could one ask for?

So drop by for lunch for an early bird discount or book yourselves a table for dinner (as they tend to get very busy around this time). They’re open Tuesday-Sunday, 12-3 pm and 6-10.30 pm.

5. Lattakia

Authentic Lebanese delicacies served in a traditional Middle-Eastern setting and a comfortable atmosphere

More often than not, some places turn out to be local gems even without the elaborate signage and expansive dining rooms, and that’s exactly the case with Lattakia.

Serving crave-worthy and authentic Lebanese cuisine, this place has a loyal customer base within Hatch End folks who swear by the quality of its food and service.

Small as it may be, Lattakia has adorned the interior with traditional Middle Eastern decor, making the space feel cosy and family-friendly. Arabian lanterns and traditional rugs hang from the walls, and shiny mosaic tiles add to the middle-eastern feel of the restaurant, where the atmosphere remains to be casual and comfy.

Lebanese food is delightful as it is, but when you make it from scratch and pair it with fantastic service, the whole experience becomes unforgettable – just like at Lattakia.

Once you’re done munching on the complimentary homemade bread, pickles, and sauce that is served as soon as you’re seated, turn towards their extensive menu. Must-tries from the starters include the Hummus Biruti that’s mixed with parsley and chilli for that extra ‘oomph’, and the rich Baba Ganjouji that pairs perfectly with their bread.

There’s plenty to choose from among the mains, so we suggest going for the mixed platter that offers many tender and juicy charcoal-grilled meats. Lots of vegetarian picks are sprinkled throughout the menu, and the staff are more than willing to adjust to other minor dietary requirements. Wash all that stuff down with some of their wines or some Lebanese beer, and you’re all set!

Open every day from 12 pm onwards, Lattakia remains to be one of the busiest restaurants in Hatch End, and once you experience their food, you’ll understand why!

6. Izgara Restaurant

Upbeat and trendy Turkish restaurant with fantastic cocktails and a spacious terrace

Turkish food hardly gets any better than at Izgara – a classy restaurant that’s been at the top of its game and is considered one of the best restaurants in Hatch End.

The ambience is certainly one of the reasons why this place is always buzzing with locals. Their very modern-looking, spacious dining room consists of various seating options with comfortable upholstery, surrounded by vibrant yet soft lighting that greatly adds to the aesthetics. It’s impossible not to click a picture or two here for your Instagram!

Meanwhile, there’s plenty of seating on their terrace, which is shaded and heated during the colder months. And despite the glam atmosphere, the vibe is still comfortable and relaxed here, so you can pop in with casual clothes for drinks or put on your best dress to celebrate a special occasion – your call.

Quality food and service remain the top reasons why this place has that local stamp of approval. Kickstart your dinner by sharing some of their drool-worthy mezze with the table, such as the Sigara Borek (savoury pastries), beetroot salad, or stuffed vine leaves.

Move on to the enticing mains, some of which come straight from a fire grill – the Adana Kofte and Lamb Shish are particularly popular and one of the Turkish favourites. Lots of vegetarian options also grace the menu, which includes a vegetable Iskender (char-grilled veggies on bread with Turkish sauces) and a cheesy Moussaka served with rice. Lunch revolves around light starters and a few hand-picked mains, and everything is always served in ample portions.

Oh and, it’s hard to stop sipping on their cocktails crafted by expert mixologists, so make sure you pop in during the happy hours (5.30 – 8.30 pm) for those.

Although walk-ins are welcome, we recommend booking a table in advance, as this place remains packed throughout the week! They’re open every day from 12 pm onwards.

7. Minori Pizzeria

Neapolitan-style pizza and other Italian delicacies served in a vibrant dining room and a lovely terrace

Staying true to the code of Vera Pizza Napoletana, Minori Pizzeria serves up some of the best Neapolitan-style pizzas you can find outside of Central London.

Upon entering, you’ll find the place to be tastefully vibrant, with bright yellow walls complemented by blue accents and Italian landscapes painted on the walls. A gorgeous bar seating area and an overall modern aesthetic make dining here very pleasant, especially if you choose to dine alfresco on their terrace that includes a special table with a built-in fire pit. Even so, the place is quite family-friendly (with an extensive kids’ menu) and is a go-to spot for local families to munch on cheesy pizzas.

Although their menu consists of other Italian favourites as well, their speciality and arguably the most sought-after item remains to be the stone-oven baked Neapolitan pizzas made with aged doughs. Thin-crusted with a delicious char, they have a sprawling list of pizza options to choose from, and you can even choose your own toppings to shake things up a little.

House-made pasta doughs make for irresistible pasta mains, and try to go easy on the starters, though we totally understand if you can’t stop nibbling on that soft and chewy freshly-baked bread!

Oh and, you can order gluten-free pizza and pasta too, along with over a dozen vegetarian and vegan picks. Pair your meals with some of their unique wines, and finish off with some of their stellar gelato.

Follow up with their socials to keep in touch with all the local events they host, including football screenings!

Open Wednesday to Sunday, 12 pm onwards, Minori Pizzeria welcomes walk-ins but we certainly recommend bookings for weekend nights.

8. B&K Salt Beef Bar

Long-running deli offering dine-in with home-cured meats and sizable sandwiches

A legacy that goes way back to the 1950s was carried on by founder Bambos Georgiou’s sons, and today B&K Salt Beef Bar runs two thriving delis serving drool-worthy salt beef.

With home-cured meats prepared with utmost care and hand-carved, you’re bound to fall in love with the food here. Being a hidden gem of a restaurant in Hatch End, this place has a casual and low-key vibe to it, perfect for those days when you want to chow down some quick-serve, juicy sandwiches without an elaborate dining scene.

Start with some of their homemade soups, or get their fried fish balls that have a cult following among locals.

Mains involve a variety of cured meats, served either on their own with chips or salad or nestled between thick slices of bread. And boy, are those beastly sandwiches enormous! Piled high with meat and the extras of your choice, these sandwiches are an absolute delight to munch on, especially their Reuben that’s topped with Sauerkraut – a fermented form of cabbage. They also serve wines and homemade desserts, so try and save room for those!

Keep in mind that this place is not truly kosher, but offers ‘kosher-style’ food instead. B&K is open every Tuesday to Sunday from 11 am onwards for dine-in, takeaway, and delivery.
