Established by local farmers in 1952, The Creamery is a dairy plant that is used to showcase the wonderful nature of the region’s dairy products. There is everything available here from cheese, to curds, milk to ice cream!

The attached restaurant has a curated menu that highlights these products, offering simple no-pretense meals, allowing the cheese to stand out.

The place is massive and is supplied by dairy farmers in the locality, so you can browse through their collection of fine local cheeses at leisure and then sit down at one of the tables near the kitchen counter to grab a quick bite. The interiors are spacious and industrial with hardwood flooring and a large vaulted ceiling. Plenty of display cases and fridges display their bounty of dairy – good luck trying to resist it!

Let’s be honest – you really have to order a grilled cheese at a restaurant that specializes in cheese itself. There are several options to choose from – from the humble classic grilled cheese to the avocado bacon.

We think you should try the braised short rib version though, which comes with slow cooked beef short ribs and Creamery baby cheddar in multigrain bread with a side of au jus. All sandwiches come with a side of fries, fruit cup, soup or chips.

But if you’d like to share a platter to sample some of their products you can order the Creamery cheeseboard which comes with 5 types of cheese, Italian sausage, crackers and accompaniments.

Timberline has a beautifully rustic ambience which will grab you the moment you enter and make you feel like you’re dining in an actual inn. A fireplace sits at one end in front of a beautiful stone wall, while paintings adorn the walls whose visual appeal is enhanced by the spot lighting from above – it’s a picturesque place. Seating is your standard diner fare with simple wooden tables and chairs, or you have a choice of booths.

As for the food. Everything here is made from scratch with special country recipes, so you know you’re getting authentic regional dishes and some fantastic eating.

There are separate menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner depending on what time you visit. But as for what we recommend, The Monte Cristo is hands down a crowd favorite and features a turkey, ham, Swiss cheese, cheddar and mayo sandwich, battered and fried. Served with strawberry compote and sour cream, it’s an absolute hit and a perfect road trip treat!

Make sure to not miss out on their Fish and Fries combo which consists of hand breaded haddock, fries and coleslaw. The Timberline pot roast they serve for dinner is also really good and will transport you back to your grandma’s kitchen. The portion size is large and is served with pan jus, new potatoes, Spanish onions and tomatoes. Finish your meal off with a butter cake to end on an absolutely high note.

The staff are really friendly and welcoming and food is brought out fast despite being made from scratch. The restaurant is open from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. 3. Maria’s Cocina

Quaint homey Mexican food in a down-to-earth environment.

Don’t be put off by the location of this hidden gem (its in an RV park) as it’s a place that locals flock to and swear by.

Maria’s is a rustic little log cabin with only around seven or eight tables, so make sure you get there on time. It’s a charming cozy place with plenty of trinkets adorning the walls such as sombreros, carpets and statues. You’ll really feel like you’ve been invited to someone’s home to dine in.

It’s Maria herself who does the cooking, as she has been doing for the past several years, and with the fireplace and all-round rustic feel, dining here is a real different and fun experience.

Maria makes everything fresh to order and from the freshest ingredients with precision and care. The Chile Relleno Plate has been a particular runaway success, featuring two chile rellenos stuffed with cheese, beans, rice and salad.

The chimichanga is another stellar hit, coming with a choice of filling – shredded beef, chicken or ground beef overflowing with guacamole and sour cream.

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that bring the most joy and that’s the same with the chips and salsa here – its so good, locals often take it to go! Complete your meal with a glass of homemade horchata for the complete experience.

Homey American classics in a café that’s been around since the 1940’s.

El Bambi Café is a classic American diner. Just pull up, find a comfortable booth and order your coffee. It’s simple and down to earth which reflects in the décor and color scheme that is dominated by warm browns with a splash of red for vibrancy. Simple paintings hang over the pantry and across one wall, providing a bit of spark to the environment. The café does take on an air of festivity with flags and stockings being hung up depending on the holiday or occasion.

But what El Bambi does best is comfort food.

You know a restaurant is doing a good job when the burger that carries its name is one of the best things on the menu. The ‘Bambi Burger’ comes with a 6oz beef patty, ham, Swiss cheese and all the fixings on a homemade bun.

The breakfast options are great with the homemade biscuits and gravy being an absolute delight. The rest of the offerings for breakfast feature staples such as omelets, pancakes and French toast, while the lunch menu has burgers, sandwiches, soups and salads.

5. Crazy Cow Café

Lovely family restaurant that serves family food.

The ambience of Crazy Cow Café really reflects its name with predominantly brown and tan colors, and even carpeting with distinct bovine overtures. Simple wooden tables and chairs occupy one wing of the restaurant with booths occupying the other. There’s a lot more to the restaurant as well, with signs that feature its quirky logo and paintings that resemble cow hide! Overall, it’s a bright cheerful place to dine in, and you can even take a gander at the giftshop which has plenty of souvenirs to take home.

The menu here is vast, so you’ll have a lot of options to choose from. And they serve everything from breakfast to steaks to salads and specialty drinks.

Chow down on one of their classic burgers, or experiment a little and go for the stuffed burger which you can customize with your choice of stuffed cheese. Now that’s unique. The choice of onion petals that comes with the burgers is quite a refreshing change from standard fries or onion rings as well.

For a filling breakfast, we recommend the ‘Ranch Hand Breakfast’ which comes with two pancakes, eggs any style, hash browns and A choice of sausage or bacon – its really filling!

Make sure to try one of their signature concoctions too – we recommend the Pina Cowlada, simply for the pun, which has sprite, coconut, pineapple and cream.

The service here is fantastic and very accommodating for special requests too. The owners also take time to respond to customer queries online, which shows they care. The café is open early from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. all days of the week.

6. Kan Kun Mexican Restaurant

Family owned and operated restaurant that serves authentic central Mexican food.

Kan Kun really recreates an old-world charm with its interiors. Simple wooden tables and chairs are laid out along with booths for seating. There is a lot of natural lighting thanks to the large windows, but they have blinds too, so you can always draw them if the sun is too harsh. Paintings adorn the wall, but the real draw is the bits of foliage that dot the restaurant and offer a fresh feel.

Owners Santiago and Rita Amezcua have worked tirelessly to bring central Mexican food to Beaver, Utah. With more than 15 years of experience, Santiago has curated a menu that showcases the best of his home state of Michoacan.

In particular the ceviche tostadas here are an absolute delight, featuring fresh shrimp with onions, cucumber, tomatoes and jalapenos served with avocado and lemon wedges.

But for something more substantial, go for the El Grande which has a choice of three items, from enchiladas, taquitos, tamales and rellenos, all served with rice and beans. Wash all that down with a michelada made in house for the perfect complement to a meal.

The service here is great with attentive servers, ready to take your orders and bus the table and go out of their way to make your meal excellent.

Unassuming fast-food restaurant that specializes in Mexican food and tacos.

Don’t let the simple interiors of this counter serve restaurant deceive you, they dish out some delicious food.

There is a standard fast-food restaurant set up here with booths available for seating and the menu displayed on a board above the service counter. Everything is built to be functional and not flashy, but the satin curtains that hang from the windows and the odd sombrero that hangs from the walls, along with the odd painting, add charm to the establishment.

There is an option of a drive through as well if you’re in a hurry. Just make sure you check out their merchandise section for a quirky, cheeky collectible before driving away!

As the name suggest, Beaver Taco specializes in tacos, and boy do they do them well. There are choices between soft and hard shell and you can even order a plate of minis.

The fillings range from asada, carnitas and adobada to chicken, beef and shrimp. We’ve heard great things about the carnitas so go with that. All tacos are served with onions, fresh cilantro and lime wedges.

If you’re after something more substantial, spring for a burrito – they are massive and come filled with refried beans, rice, guacamole and your choice of filling. The fiery red salsa it comes with is also a hit! The rest of the menu features large plates, chimichangas, quesadillas and rice bowls.
