Alva has some truly unique restaurants that deserve to be recognized for their flavors and service, from Mexican eateries to restaurants that combine bowling with great food, this town has a really diverse and fun dining scene.

But to help you out if you’re new in town, we’ve put together a list of our favorite restaurants in Alva. Bon appetit!

The Best Restaurants In Alva, OK: Food Worth Waiting For!

1. El Maya Mexican Cuisine

Authentic Mexican cuisine served in a fun atmosphere full of color and warmth with exceptional service!

If you’re looking for your usual Mexican fix when you’re in Alva, then one of the best places to go to is El Maya Mexican Cuisine.

Not only does the food always put you in the mood for a celebration, but the lively atmosphere and warm staff are bound to make you feel happy, no matter what worries you show up with, making you bound to feel lighter once you’re ready to leave!

The interior of the restaurant is amazing too! With brightly colored Mexican ornaments hanging from the roof, lots of Mexican flags adorning the walls, as well as flowers and plants bringing the place to life, it’s just a great space to be in and that makes all the difference.

There’s booth, bar, or table-style seating to choose from too, so there’s plenty of space regardless of how crowded it gets (and as one of the best restaurants in Alva, it does get busy!), so don’t worry about the best time to go. Just go whenever you please.

The place has an extensive menu full of Mexican, American, and Vegetarian items, making sure that they cater to a whole host of pallets.

Their Fajitas, Burritos, Burgers, and Bean Chalupa are some of the most popular items according to locals, so make sure you grab some of those. Apart from that they also have a huge drinks menu that you can explore alongside your meal to really add that extra oomph to the evening.

El Maya Mexican Cuisine is closed on Tuesdays. Otherwise, they are open from Wednesday to Thursday 11 am to 9 pm. On Friday and Saturday, they are open from 11 am to 9:30 pm.

On Sunday they are open from 11 am to 8:30 pm and on Monday they are again open from 11 am to 9 pm. The days and times can be difficult to remember, so feel free to call in before going, or check again here for their timings.

2. 818 Diner

A traditional American diner with some great food, lovely service, and possibly the cutest place to dine in all of Alva.

A relatively new addition to town, 818 Diner has amassed quite a name and reputation for itself already for being one of the best restaurants in Alva, OK.

Bringing some old-school charm to the town with its diner décor and traditional food, this is one eatery that will never disappoint, which explains why it’s full of dotting locals all the time. Plus, it’s a great breakfast spot opening at 6am, so if you’re an early riser and love a hearty breakfast, this is the place to go!

As far as their food is concerned, their breakfast service is very popular and starts from 6 am to 11 am. So, if you want to have one of the best breakfasts in Alva, then we suggest coming for it early. Apart from that, they also have sandwiches, salads, and appetizers to choose from. Plus, they also offer a separate Keto/Low Carb menu that can be a godsend if you’re trying to eat healthily.

Their interior is equally as warm and comforting as their food. With a checkered black and white floor. There’s plenty of booth or table-style seating, knick-knacks on the wall, and friendly staff that know many of the locals by name, sp the atmosphere feels just like home. So, even if you’re new to town or just over for the holidays, you’ll probably make a few friends here if you visit a few times.

818 Diner is closed on Tuesdays, but opens on Wednesday to Friday from 6 am to 2 pm and then from 5 pm to 8 pm. On Saturday, Sunday, and Monday they are only open from 6 am to 2 pm for breakfast and lunch, so choose whichever day you want to go to according to the meal served and you’ll be gold!

3. Chopsticks

Superb Chinese food full of spice and flavor served in a comfortable environment with great service.

Having deliciously flavorful Chinese cuisine can honestly be one of the best dining experiences you can ask for, and Chopsticks is the place to go to in Alva if that’s what you’re craving.

Not only are their helpings huge and their food scrumptious, but the service is also kind and hospitable, making it a great dining experience that everyone should try when they’re in town.

The interior is clean and simple with plenty of seating to choose from, so whether you want a booth or a table, they have plenty of options for either. The red chairs also add a great pop of color to the place and go with the wallpaper they have on the walls. It’s a great space that makes you feel calm and chill, so head on over to relax and unwind.

Their food is known for being just the absolute best too. They have a lot of variety to choose from, full of unique dishes, so whether you like chicken, rice, pork, seafood, beef, or vegetarian options, you’ll get plenty of all of them!

They also have combination dinner plates that the locals order often too, so you can take a look at those as well. On top of that they serve a buffet every day from 11 am to 2 pm, too, if you want to try more than just one item and get your money’s worth that’s a great option.

Chopsticks is closed on Sunday. But they are open every day apart from Sunday from 11 am to 9 pm, making it a very convenient place for any meal of the day. So, whenever you start to crave some good old Chinese food, you can come to Chopsticks and enjoy your all-time favorites.

4. The Bull Smokehouse and Saloon

Slow-cooked meat, burgers, and other delicacies await you in this casual, family-friendly restaurant and bar.

If you like BBQ and have been searching for a good place to have some in Alva, then The Bull Smokehouse and Saloon makes some of the best in the state, making it a must-visit destination for any meat aficionado who likes their meat, flavorful aromatic and full of spice. It’s a family-friendly joint too, so make an evening out of it whenever you decide to come.

The aesthetic and vibe of the place is fun too. With pool tables and a whole host of other activities to have fun with, there’s always something happening in the location.

The venue itself looks like a rustic barn almost with high wood-paneled ceilings and plenty of open space. Neon lights, TVs, and plenty of thematic art on the walls give a unique character to the place too.

Plus, their food is also very interesting. Not only do they have meat from their smokers like pulled pork, brisket, and sausage but they also have wings, burgers, salads, and appetizers as well. Also, they have a kid’s menu too, so if you have picky eaters that only enjoy a handful of things, then you’re in luck!

With so much food and such a vast variety of each category, you’re bound to go home feeling full, happy, and energized.

5. The Vanilla Bean

A restaurant that serves a variety of items from coffee to breakfast, desserts, and much more. A perfect place to go to if you want to experience different items and fantastic sweets!

A restaurant, bakery, and café all under one roof, The Vanilla Bean is an exquisite eatery that deserves all the praise it gets for being so versatile but still so good with every aspect of its business.

From selling so many different items, to their lovely interior and staff, everything is really well done. It’s also an ideal place for a cosy date night or a family dinner, just depends on what you’re in the mood for because they have it all.

With one of the prettiest decors in town, the Vanilla bean has a very rustic yet still modern look. With a bar, highchair seating, and tables on one side and some wooden seating on the other, their vibe is a lot of fun and just as versatile as their food. Plus, their unusual shelves and ornaments add a very unique and fun twist to the place. We’d definitely recommend taking a ton of pictures in the café because they’re bound to come out looking fabulous.

They have so many items to choose from too! So whether you’re a coffee lover looking for your caffeine fix, want something freshly baked, or even if you’re looking for a full meal, they have you covered on all bases.

Their breakfast menu is also locally famous and served till 11 am if you want to drop by and catch that. They also share their daily specials on their Facebook page which can be a great place to check out if you want to see what’s being served and when to go to get the best item.

The Vanilla Bean is closed on Monday. They are open from Tuesday to Friday from 6 am to 9 pm. On Friday and Saturday, they are open from 6 am to 10 pm, but due to the fact that they have so many options to choose from, we’d go on multiple days and always try something new if we were you!

6. Chubby Dave’s

A locally owned sandwich joint with mouthwatering subs, scrumptious soups, and amazing pies!

Sometimes, we all crave healthy food that won’t make us feel heavy and guilty for eating out, and for days like those, Chubby Dave’s Sandwich shop and deli is the best refuge you can seek.

This place is truly a hidden gem in Alva, known only really by the locals, but it’s a spot that every tourist should put on their travel itinerary.

Chubby Dave’s is in a very convenient location, making it a reliable pitstop to make if you want to grab some lunch on the go. It also has a huge salad bar that’s always full to the brim with veggies and sauces that you can eat to your heart’s content.

The place itself is a cozy spot with big windows, wooden seating, and a large lounge. The staff makes the whole restaurant warm and inviting – it’s just the kind of atmosphere you want to enjoy your meal in.

Their soups, sandwiches, and pies are all the rage amongst regulars who frequent the place, so we’d take a cue from that and order something from those menus. Plus, the staff will be more than happy to help make your experience even better, so ask them for suggestions and recommendations and we’re sure you’ll have a fantastic time there.

Chubby Dave’s is closed on Saturday and Sunday. They are open every other day of the week from 11 am to 7 pm, making it a great lunch or early dinner place to go to. So, make sure you drop by to taste their specialties.

7. Cookie’s Bowl & Café

A café next to a bowling alley! Serving a variety of American dishes, come for the game, stay for the food.

This next eatery comes with a very unique activity that will have you nostalgic about the good old days. Cookie’s Bowl & Café is located inside the neighborhood bowling café! Which makes for an absolutely amazing time, with friends, family, or even your little ones.

So, make tons of memories, get competitive and finish the day with some extraordinary food at one of the funnest restaurants in Alva!

Cookies is a family-owned and locally operated café that loves the excitement that the location brings to their lives every day. They have a large counter/bar on one end of the bowling alley as well as some tables in front of the bar, both are usually full of locals dropping by between rounds to catch some amazing food.

Choose from a variety of options including sharable appetizers if you want something quick and easy or burgers, steaks, and fish filet if you want some delicious entrees. Apart from this they also have great epic salads, soups, and chilis for whoever’s really craving a homestyle meal.

Everything they make, they make with love and the finest quality ingredients that are all locally sourced, so you’re in for a treat no matter what you order.

Cookie’s Bowl & Café is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 7:30 am to 3 pm and then from 4:30 pm to 9 pm. So, drop by and enjoy a game or two and finish the day off by having a delicious meal. It’s a win-win situation, even if you end up losing in the bowling alley!

8. The Office Bar

A great place to have a drink after a long day, hang out with friends and play a round of pool!

Our last stop is The Office Bar, a popular local, neighborhood bar often frequented by the young people of Alva. It’s a great place to see and enjoy some of the nightlife that’s been building up in the town over the last couple of years.

So, if you just want to go somewhere where the drinks are good, and the ambiance is even better then this is the place to be.

The vibe of the place is just as you’d expect a local bar to be like, with pool tables, neon lighting, a wooden bar at one side of the lounge, and plenty of seating options. It might look like a small and unassuming place from the outside, but from the inside it has a great aesthetic and it’s a fun place to make friends in if you’re new to town too!

The bar is essentially a beer and liquor bar, so it doesn’t serve food. It is, however, a great place to go if you’re looking for some of the most unique beverages in town. Their cocktails, mocktails, beer selection, and other drinks are fantastic, and some of the most unique ones that you’ll find in this part of town, so make sure you swing by and check the place out.

The Office Bar is closed on Sunday. They are open from 4 pm to 2 am Monday to Friday. On Saturdays, they are open from 4 pm to 12 am.
