Our Top Eight Restaurants In Dawson Creek: Food Worth Waiting For!

1. Fixx Urban Grill

Steaks and elevated entrees served in a relaxed and spacious interior with a bar

As a proudly local business, Fixx Urban Grill is easily one of the best restaurants in Dawson Creek to grab a casual steak dinner or gourmet quality entrees.

They’ve been serving locals and visitors since 2012 in its roomy, dimly-lit, sleek wood-paneled interior. Well-spaced out tables and a big well-lit bar make up the dining areas, alongside private spaces for those special occasion dinners.

And while the atmosphere may be laid back and casual here, the food quality is a bunch of classy 5 stars.

You’ll know exactly what we mean when you try their prime rib, filet mignon, and other cuts. These 28-day aged grade AAA steaks are cut in-house and grilled to juicy perfection with a beautiful sear on the outside.

They’re everything a steak should be, especially if you get enhancers like a peppercorn brandy sauce or sauteed garlic butter scallops.

Other menu highlights include the butter halibut served with tapenade, a flavorful bowl of jambalaya, or the BBQ bacon chicken burger stacked high with fillings and some roast garlic aioli. They also have a vegetarian menu if that’s what you’re looking for.

Get some of the fantastic wines or beers to go with these generously-portioned plates, and you’ll be counting the days till you can come back here. They’re open every day from 4 pm onwards.

2. Stuie’s Diner

Retro-style diner serving sizable burgers and milkshakes in a polished-chrome space

Step back in time when you dine at Stuie’s Diner – a cornerstone of the Dawson Creek dining scene serving hearty breakfast platters and burgers for lunch.

Housed inside a polished chrome passenger train car, this place has 50’s diner written all over it, with its amusing Betty Boop and Elvis-themed decor and cute gumball machines.

Sit in one of the booths or the high tops at the counter – either way, you’ll feel truly welcome and very comfortable at this famous local establishment.

Breakfast here is hearty, rich, and all about comfort – think bacon, hash browns, pancakes, and eggs oozing gold.

Meanwhile, lunch features many handhelds, salads, house soups, and decadent desserts.

In true old-school fashion, their burgers are huge, homemade, and piled high – try the Stuie’s classic that’s stuffed with fried onions, mushrooms, pickles, and two juicy beef patties. You’ll be drooling by the time you manage to finish it.

Other highlights include a sloppy hot dog called The Twist that’s bacon-wrapped and loaded with various toppings.

Oh and, don’t forget to get some milkshake that’s blended with real fruits (it’s a very sought-after item on their menu) and a slice of their perfectly-crusted pie.

Find them open Monday-Friday from 8 am – 3 pm and 11 am onwards on Saturdays. As one of the most popular restaurants in Dawson Creek they get fairly busy during lunch time, but service remains smooth and quick.

3. Spicy Fusion

Authentic Indian dishes served in a relaxed and contemporary dining space

Say Namaste to the exotic and bold flavors of Indian cuisine at Spicy Fusion.

After opening and operating in Fort St John in 2013, the Dawson Creek venue was established in 2020, and boy was it a welcome addition to the town’s dining scene!

Come here for savoring authentic Indian fare in a relaxed atmosphere, where there are booths and tables in a sleek, well-lit, and contemporary setting. It’s nothing too fancy – just enough for it to be pleasant and stylish for the guests to settle into.

As for the menu, it’s far more than just butter chicken and naan. An extensive list of items graces their menu, with everything down to the sauces and spices ground in-house and made from scratch.

Begin with some famous street foods like crispy samosas or chicken pakoras served with chutney. Move on to either the fragrant Biryani or the creamy and melt-in-the-mouth tikka varieties.

The curries are plentiful and intensely flavored – try the Lamb Vindaloo, spiced prawn curry, or go classic with the best butter chicken in a 100-mile radius.

And even if you’re not vegetarian, you’ll be blown away by their Punjabi-style chickpea curry and palak paneer.

Do ask them to go easy on the spices if you’re not used to the heat in authentic Indian dishes. Ordering a glass of sweet mango lassi could help with that too.

Find them open Tuesday-Saturday, 11 am onwards, and 4 pm onwards on Sundays.

4. Post & Row

Local taphouse serving refined eats in a laid-back setting with a patio and live entertainment

As one of the most happening restaurants in Dawson Creek, Post and Row boasts a menu of elevated eats and fantastic rotating tap beers.

With their immensely cheerful and bright atmosphere, you’ll find your spirits uplifted even if you didn’t intend on having any fun. And fun you will have, as live music, comedy shows, and trivia nights are common here as flights of drinks go around the room!

You’ll also love their casual and rustic setup, with uniquely designed chairs and tables and a lit bar all inside an airy and spacious room. Don’t forget the cute front patio on sunny days!

As far as the menu goes, they roll out enticing new stuff like cheeseburger poutine and gourmet grilled ham and cheese every other day.

Standard menu items include a decadent steak sandwich stuffed with a 6oz sirloin, seafood fettuccine filled to the brim with baby scallops and shrimp, and a beautifully charred ribeye with asparagus and mashed potatoes.

Meanwhile, weekend brunch has everything from fluffy waffles to a flight of various eggs benedict. Fresh, hot, and in hearty portions to go with your mimosas or local beers from all over Northern BC.

Find them open between Monday-Friday, 11 am onwards, and 10 am onwards on weekends to as late as midnight.

5. Le’s Family Restaurant

A long-standing local establishment serving homestyle meals in a humble and quaint dining space

Since 1988, Le’s Family Restaurant has cemented itself as a staple among locals, especially for breakfast/brunch.

Attached to an inn, the place is also great for spending the night in quaint, homey rooms before waking up to some hearty, homestyle meals.

Everything from the incredible homemade food to the hospitable service speaks volumes about how much Mr. Le – the owner – cares about the restaurant. The venue itself is a no-frills, straightforward space, so don’t expect anything fancy here.

But when it comes to food, you’ll be treated to some of the most flavorful and rich-tasting stuff that can remind you of good ol’ grandma’s cooking.

Breakfast here is a satisfying spread of huge omelets (they don’t skimp on fillings either) served with cubed hash browns.

Whilst the oscar benny with shrimp and crab is great for those feeling fancy for breakfast, and the classics like buttery pancakes and cinnamon raisin french toast are just as satisfying.

Meanwhile, lunch and dinner have everything that’s comfort food – the ever-so-popular liver and onions, charbroiled AAA sirloin steak with potatoes and veggies, and the enormous burgers with home-cut fries. Generously portioned, hearty, and absolutely delicious.

Get some beer or wine to go with it, and we bet you’ll want to become a regular here just like the rest of the town. They’re open every day from 8 am onwards.

6. Juice Five O

Family-run Vietnamese restaurant serving pho and other staples in a casual and vibrant space

The 2015-established Juice Five O is quite literally a hidden gem in Dawson Creek.

You can find the best Vietnamese food around inside the Kruk Centre for Performing Arts where they’re located, as one of the owners and DC residents, Nguyen Thuy Thao Mai, cooks up the flavorful and super authentic dishes.

It’s a bright, airy, and spotlessly clean venue with a very cafe-like atmosphere, but the food is fresh and vibrant and leaves guests craving for more.

And although the menu is short and somewhat limited, you’ll be offered comfort fare that’s homemade, refreshing, and unsurprisingly a hit among customers. We’re talking overstuffed spring rolls, saucy pancit noodles, spiced coconut chicken curry, and juicy stir fried beef with rice and fresh veggies.

On cold days, a bowl of their flavorful and rich pho with tender brisket is simply pho-nominal, as is the wonton noodle soup. A cup of their Vietnamese iced coffee or bubble tea to-go is a good idea too.

You can also ask them to prepare your food as a GF or vegetarian meal – they’re very accommodating about dietary restrictions. Swing by or order online between Monday-Friday from 10 am onwards.

7. Sola’s Bar and Grill

A comprehensive menu offered in a sleek space with a bar and a year-round patio

With an eclectic menu highlighting local produce, the food at Sola’s Bar and Grill is quite comparable to big city restaurants.

People come here to chill at their gorgeous center bar with mood lights and lots of TVs, relax over drinks in the sleek lounges, or grab a satisfying meal with the family in the trendy dining areas.

And the best part about them aside from the food is their spacious patio that’s weather-protected, heated, and open all year round. So no matter if it’s super hot or freezing cold, you can dine alfresco under pretty string lights any day.

Established in 2005, this local bar really knows its way about good food, and it shows. Start your meal with some baked garlic mushrooms or some of the crispiest calamari ever.

Mains range from juicy burgers and sandwiches to a delightful and saucy orange ginger chicken bowl, chicken souvlaki with tzatziki and naan, and tender grilled Angus beef steaks (throw in some steak enhancers for the ‘oomph’ factor).

They also serve brunch on weekends and have plenty of GF items too.

Find them open every day from 11 am onwards – happy hours last 2-5 pm every day.

8. Sam’s Friends Restaurant

Comfort food including Filipino fare served in a straightforward, diner-like atmosphere with some outdoor tables

Attached to a small travel lodge, Sam’s Friends looks like an unassuming ramshackle little place that you can easily drive past without noticing.

But if you knew the kind of comfort food they serve here – the reason why it’s a hangout spot for locals – you’d be visiting this hidden place every day.

They’ve got something for everyone, including a fantastic selection of Filipino dishes, and it’s all homestyle and super hearty.

It’s a very diner-like vibe inside their quaint interior, and settling down on the green-tablecloth tables really feels like dining at a friend’s house. They’ve also got a few outdoor tables at the storefront.

Start your day in Dawson Creek with some of their steak and eggs, loaded skillets, or some potato scallops with eggs and crispy bacon. Just one of these plates will keep you full all day.

Lunch/dinner features everything from a sizzling hamburger steak and fish chips to stir fry noodles and even butter chicken.

But if you really want to experience their food at its best, try the authentic Filipino dishes, like the tosilog – pan-fried sweet cured pork with garlic rice – or the beef bulalo in a flavorful broth.

On Friday and Saturday nights, come for a rich prime rib dinner that’s tender, full of beefy flavors, and served with a fantastic Yorkshire pudding. Bonus points if you happen to be here on bingo game nights! Find them open every day from 7 am onwards.
