Our Favorite Bars For Food In Schaumburg, IL

1. Westwood Tavern

Modern tavern with American eats and plenty of beers on tap.

The interiors of Westwood Tavern blend modern design with old-school charm resulting in a place you’ll love to visit time and again. Brick and metal accents work alongside modern dining settings in a spacious dining room that also features a fireplace. If that’s not enough to draw you in, they also have a huge patio with an outdoor bar which is perfect for when the weather’s great and you want to enjoy the outdoors.

Westwood Tavern features a specially curated wine list and more than 16 beers on tap, plus a lot more available by the bottle, including local and craft beers.

The food here is a big draw too, featured in a menu that boasts everything made from scratch. We’ve heard great things about their burgers, so make sure you order one to pair with a nice cold beer! They even have a sushi bar on the second level so there’s plenty of options. When it comes to food this is one of the best bars in Schaumburg, IL for sure.

It’s highly recommended to call ahead and make a reservation as the place does fill up. Once you get here though, everything is a breeze thanks to the quick and efficient service.

2. Village Tavern & Grill

Neighborhood tavern with great food, plenty of beers and a full bar.

Village Tavern & Grill is warm and inviting and really takes you in from the moment you enter. The wooden walls are dotted with various knick-knacks, posters and awards with the few remaining spaces in between being reserved for flat screen TVs.

That is not to say the interiors are garish – quite the opposite as the memorabilia only serves to make the place livelier. You’ll have your choice of seating from high tables to regular ones and of course, you can always pull up a stool by the bar.

The Tavern has been consistently voted as having some of the best food in Schaumberg and even Illinois, and has even been featured on TV for the same! You have to try their ‘world famous chicken fingers’ when you are here which come with a signature finger mustard sauce – they are known for being truly phenomenal! And if you drop by on a Friday, they even run an all you can eat fish fry special.

They also boast a fully stocked bar with a large selection of cocktails along with domestic, import and craft beers.

Village Tavern is a great place to visit with friends or family for some great food, great drinks and good times.

3. Stonewood Alehouse

Stonewood Alehouse combines modern aesthetics with old-school charm effortlessly by marrying its stone and wood interiors with contemporary tables and modern light fixtures. You’ll have plenty of space to yourself here in their expansive dining area which includes a fireplace, central bar and different types of tables. But if that is not enough, they have seating available on the large patio outside too. They have a separate lounge area and even host events and parties.

Stonewood stays true to its name by offering over 20 ice cold draft beer selections, including ciders, imports, drafts and seasonals. There are also 70 beer choices in bottles or cans apart from an extensive wine and specialty cocktail list!

But you should also really hit this place if you’re craving a burger – they have several options available and their patty is made with an in-house blend and grilled over hickory wood – really popular with the locals!

Our Favorite Bars For Live Events In Schaumburg, IL

1. The Hideout

Specialty karaoke bar with pub grub and cocktails

The Hideout is aptly named, as it’s your classic, cozy local watering hole. It’s got a dive bar feel to it with the dim lighting and straightforward décor which means they put the emphasis on community and good times.

While the drinks flow freely here under the capable hands of the bartenders, what really draws the crowds in is the karaoke! It happens four times a week and there is a great selection of songs with an intuitive menu that is easy to use.

The bartenders are here are also known for being funny, engaging and lively which helps foster a great sense of camaraderie. They run daily specials too, and have a kitchen that dishes out some great pub fare – just check their socials for details. This is a great place to visit with your mates, have a few pints and sing your heart out!

The Hideout does get busy, especially during karaoke nights, but that just gives you the opportunity to mingle with the locals and get a real feel of Schaumberg nightlife.

2. MT Barrels

MT Barrels is your classic upbeat sports bar where you can settle down and watch the game with your friends.

They have flat screen TVs all along the top of their central bar and a projector and screen in front of the stage, so you’ll be able to catch all the action no matter where you sit. If there’s no game on, worry not – there’s a bunch of pool tables available as well, if you fancy a game.

What really sets this place apart is their live music though – they feature bands every Friday and Saturday, featuring some of the best local talent. The stage is large as well and really allows the bands to go all out and entertain. The bar also hosts line dancing on Thursdays! Simply put, if you’re looking to be entertained this is one of the best bars in Schaumburg, IL for you!

They have a limited food menu too, which does feature good comforting pub grub along with 19 beers on tap and a fine selection of cocktails.

Service here is great and the bartenders are always active. MT Barrels is open from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday and from 3:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday. They are closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Our Favorite Sports Bar In Schaumburg, IL

1. Finn McCool’s Irish Sports Pub

Bright and lively Irish pub and sports bar with TVs, with draft beers and American eats

Finn McCool’s is your classic Irish Pub with its inviting interiors. Subtle hints of green lighting combine with green accents on furniture along with Irish trinkets to give you some Irish flair. There’s comfortable upholstered seating along with stools by the bar, and the walls are decked with paintings and posters. It’s a great place to visit with workmates and enjoy a few rounds while watching the game on their multitude of screens.

They have a good selection of beers here along with a selection of special cocktails. In addition, you can also avail of their daily specials which run every day, including a happy hour from 4 to 6! You have to try one of their famed flavored tall long islands which come is flavors of strawberry, raspberry, mango or peach. Or you can always order a pint of Guinness, seeing as you are in an Irish pub!

Service here is good, and the place does get crowded, especially on St. Patrick’s Day so plan your visit ahead. Finn McCool’s is open from 11:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Sunday and Monday with closing hours extending to midnight Tuesday through Saturday.

Our Favourite Dive Bar In Schaumburg, IL

1. Bob McCullough’s Pub & Grill

Neighborhood bar with plenty of beer, TVs and billiards tables

Located in a strip mall, Bob McCullough’s is your classic hometown bar. It’s a quaint and simple place where you can gather with your friends to watch that important game while nursing a few cold ones poured by the excellent bartenders. Jerseys hang from the ceiling to give it a sports bar feel and TVs are spread out across the establishment so you don’t miss a moment.

If watching sports isn’t your thing, fret not, as there are a couple of billiards tables available where you can test your skill against that of your mates. The tables and pool cues are well maintained. All in all, this is a quintessential local bar where everybody knows your name (once you become a regular at least, and we believe you will!).

They offer Guinness on tap here too and also have a selection of drinks from their full bar, and if that’s not enough, their wings and burgers are on point too!

Service here is great, with warm and attentive bartenders and servers, so you’re guaranteed to have a good time at what is easily one of the best and most unpretentious bars in Schaumburg, IL.

Our Favorite Bars For Draft Beer In Schaumburg, IL

1. Global Brew Tap House

Upscale local chain with a vast selection of draft beers

Global Brew Tap House features chic and sleek interiors that offer little in the way of embellishment and allow their beer to do the talking.

You will be absolutely stunned by the sheer number of beers available here on tap and by bottle. There are a total of 50 beers available on tap, with Global Brew sticking to its name and offering brews from as far apart as Rome and Freising!

That being said, we still heartily recommend the local Global Life beer from St Charles which is made with the help of Riverlands Brewing Company – its light, refreshing and full flavored. If you’re unsure what to order, you can always order a flight and sample a few before making a decision, and if draft beers are not your thing, worry not – there are more than 190 beers available by the bottle or can, along with a healthy selection of scotch and bourbon and several craft cocktails. Truly a beer afficionados paradise!

Global Brew Tap House has 3 other locations in Illinois and one each in Montana and Iowa. Visit this place with a large group of friends to truly be able to sample as many of the beers available as possible.

2. City Works

Trendy bar with a large selection of beers and huge outside patio

Everything about City Works is trendy and streamlined, right from their menu offerings to the interiors. The warehouse style vaulted roof adds a level of spaciousness to the joint which complements the fashionable upholstered furniture and subtle lighting.

Their craft offerings which are numerous, are chalked in on pieces of slate, which takes up an entire wall. You can choose to dine at a booth or table here, though if the weather’s great, why not enjoy their pet-friendly outdoor patio?

City Works boasts a massive 90 local and global beers on tap, including rotating handles for seasonal brews. More than 30 of the brews come from local breweries making this one of the best beer bars in Schaumburg!

There’re so many excellent brews on tap here that we can’t really recommend just one, so why not order a taster flight or just speak to a server for suggestions? The bartenders and servers are more than happy to help you make a selection here. Apart from the beer, the establishment also features classic cocktails and wine along with a menu that features classic comfort foods with a twist.

City Works currently has 9 outlets across 5 states and each has different beers on tap. Check the Schaumburg social to see what beers are available there! This outlet is also located right next to the Hyatt Regency and is a great option to visit if you’re staying there.
