You’d be mistaken if you think Ogden, Utah is a quaint mountain town, because it’s anything but. With most of the area being part of a national forest and three world class ski resorts just minutes from downtown, its heaven for adventure seekers and people who love the great outdoors.

All of that comes with a vibrant restaurant and bar industry with many classy dining establishments, breweries and distilleries that cater to all appetites.

The Best Dive Bar In Ogden

1. Funk ‘n Dive Bar

Dive bar with great cocktails, inventive pub food and regular entertainment

Ogden’s original 5-star dive bar was actually started by a former mayor as a prohibition speak easy in the basement of Ogden courthouse. Today it is a great bar that mixes classy elements with easy-going charm. And don’t be surprised if you hear a jaunty tune being played when you enter – they have a grand piano!

Fairy lights illuminate the place and rustic arches mix with more contemporary metal furnishing to provide a really welcoming feel. You can pull up a stool by the bar or by a counter or have your selection of table seating.

Funk n’ Dive has a good selection of beers and some really creative mixed drinks. What makes this place special is their separate plant-based menu which features plenty of meat substitutes and vegetarian options.

Something is always happening every evening here too – from poker tournaments, pub trivia, karaoke to live music. It’s a great place to hang out with colleagues and you can even form a team and tackle trivia night!

As one of the most popular bars in Ogden, this place does get crowded pretty often, but to their credit, the staff always seem able to keep up and they’re pretty fun and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit! Hours of operation are from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. all days except Sunday when its closed.

The Best Bars In Ogden For Live Music

1. Lighthouse Lounge

Relaxed venue with a full bar and live music

Lighthouse Lounge has a warm and welcoming atmosphere where a contemporary setting blends perfectly with rustic undertones. The bar itself is sleek with plenty of metal accents and the display having a mirror backing and bright lights.

One side of the restaurant is a brick wall, which adds an old school element to the place, and the few pieces of vibrant art hung on it add a modern touch. The far end of the lounge is dominated by a large stage where all the live gigs are held. You’ll have your choice of seating, with tables and sofas along with stools by the bar, though chances are you’ll be on your feet enjoying the great tunes being played!

The bar boasts a wide selection of bottled microbrews and drafts, along with classic and modern cocktails and a modest selection of wines. It’s a great place to celebrate special occasions and you can even book a table for events – they just need a week’s notice.

As one of the most fun bars in Ogden, there’s always something going on here too, with live music on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, karaoke and vinyl nights. Follow their socials for details! They even run daily specials for the food and drinks.

Go ahead and give Lighthouse Lounge a visit, it’s a great bar with never a dull moment! Hours of operation are from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. seven days a week.

2. The Yes Hell

Contemporary live music bar with great craft cocktails

What you can expect at The Yes Hell is bold and contemporary, whether it’s the décor or the drinks. There’s plenty of funky modern art (from local artists) on the walls and pitchforks adorn the backlit bar, but that is all within a setting that’s subdued and classy.

During the day, the place is bright and inviting and at night, it transforms into a more intimate space with dim lighting and even a few chandeliers. Seating is a simple affair and the tables vary in length – perfect for visiting with large groups or with that special someone.

The cocktails at Yes Hell are fun and inventive, just like the bartenders who are also very knowledgeable. Just speak to them about your likes and dislikes and they’ll whip up a concoction that will really hit the spot.

The place has a great vibe which only goes up a few notches when they have a band playing, which is very often! Just check their socials for who is playing. You also have to order the sliders when you are here, we’ve heard nothing but good things and they’re sure to go great with your custom cocktail.

Despite the name, Yes Hell is a piece of heaven and one of the most fun bars in Ogden. Make sure you give them a visit! They’re open from 4:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. all days except Sunday and Monday.

3. Brewskis

Lively joint with cold beers, great pizza and plenty of music

Located at the heart of Ogden’s historic district, Brewskis has been serving the community since 1994. It’s got a great classic bar feel with plenty of neon signs and merchandize dotting the walls. You also know they mean music when posters featuring several prominent musicians also decorate the place. Another draw here is the fifteen-foot sports theater screen and superb sound system so you can catch the big game in HD with all your friends.

Brewskis is committed to showcasing the best local talent around, and as such, has live music every weekend 9:00 p.m. onwards along with a DJ every Tuesday. They run daily specials too, and you absolutely have to try a slice of their pizza, its some of the best in town!

There’s also a total selection of 22 beers on tap here, along with a full bar, so you’ll have plenty of choices when it comes to ordering.

Brewskis does get crowded as it’s one of the most popular bars in Ogden, especially around the evenings, so its best to get there early. The staff here are great and service is super quick though! The bar is open from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. all seven days of the week.

The Best Bars In Ogden For Craft Beers

1. Roosters B Street Brewery and Taproom

Fantastic craft beers, great tacos in a friendly venue and brewery with small outdoor patio

Bright and inviting, yet cozy at the same time, Roosters B Street is a great place to hang out with friends over a few beers and some great food.

Chalkboard menus, wooden walls and industrial lighting work together to create a great rustic ambience. Plus, its located right next to the main brewery too, so you’re ensured the freshest beers. Apart from dining inside, there’s a small patio available too if you want to take in the crisp Ogden air and marvel at the beauty of nearby mountains.

There’s a healthy selection of drafts, cans and bottles here with the in-house brews having fresh, inventive flavors. There’re flagship options to choose from which are available all year round, along with specials and seasonal brews. If you happen to like one of the beers, they even sell them in bottles to go!

For those of a more mixed drink persuasion, there’s also a full bar with classic cocktails. The bar also features a full kitchen which dishes out some great pub fare. Don’t miss out on the tacos – we’ve heard they’re great! Roosters has two more locations in downtown Ogden and in Layton which have larger food menus and work more as restaurants.

2. Ogden River Brewing

Full-service, family friendly brewpub and working brewery with rooftop patio complete with lovely river views.

Spacious, open and airy, Ogden River Brewing is the perfect place to settle down for a nice cold pint. Plenty of metalwork and a high ceiling give the place an industrial chic look while the subtle lighting that hangs from above adds an air of charm. While the interiors are crisp and clean, you’ll probably be drawn to the covered rooftop patio which is bright, comfortable and offers great views of the river during a spell of good weather.

What started as a passion project of Pat Winslow, who started brewing in the early 2000s, is now a full-fledged brewery that is committed to being a sustaining, supportive part of the Ogden community.

The place features 10 drafts on tap, along with a wine list, full bar and craft cocktails. You can even order the bartender’s choice if you want a surprise! The food menu here features classic American pub fare, and we heartily recommend the burgers, they’re meant to be sensational. This is a great brewery to visit with your family and enjoy some good eats and drinks, so make sure you give it a try!

Service is fast and attentive and the people behind the bar are friendly and will make sure you have a great time.

Ogden River Brewing is easily one of the best bars in Ogden, and is open from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday.

3. The Angry Goat Pub N Kitchen

Energetic pub with a huge selection of beers and pub fare with a twist

The Angry Goat is a locally owned pub in the heart of downtown Ogden. It’s a bright, open and airy space with its high roof and floor to ceiling windows by the entrance. It has retro accents mixed in with a modern setting and the brick walls offer a great backdrop for the knick-knacks, flags and posters that hang from them. There’s plenty of choice for seating with wooden and upholstered chairs available and both high and low options too.

The pub boasts more than 200 craft beers and 16 on rotation on tap – talk about choices! They also stock premium spirits and have an inventive cocktail menu. The bartenders and servers are very knowledgeable and will be more than glad to assist you in making choices or offering suggestions for pairings. The food here is also great and locals have had nothing but good things to say about the burgers and lamb riblets. Give them a try and pair it with a nice cold beer!

The Best Cocktail Bar In Ogden

Side Bar

Classy lounge that serves up craft cocktails

Located within Ogden’s Own Distillery, Side Bar is your go to place for inventive cocktails. The place oozes class with its marble finishings and lounge furniture, and the vaulted ceiling makes the area feel spacious and when combined with the chandeliers, provides a sense of grandeur.

This place is built around a central bar and since its located within the premises of Ogden’s Own Distillery, you can even catch a glimpse of the stills in which spirits are distilled. Seating is varied, with everything from sofas to wooden chairs to stools by the bar.

Side Bar puts the ‘craft’ in craft cocktail. The cocktails here are based upon flavor profiles of sweet, sour, spicy or spirit forward and aim to evoke your sense of taste, smell, mind and heart.

What’s more is that they are made from local ingredients, scratch made mixers and feature Ogden’s Own’s brands. Even the glassware used and the presentation is excellent, making it clear that a lot of thought has gone into the drink’s construction. It’s a great place for a business meeting or even for an evening with that special someone.

The friendly team of mixologists here are really knowledgeable and treat their profession as an art, so you’re definitely in good hands, wherever your tastes lie. Hours of operation are from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

The Best Theme Bar In Ogden

1. The City Club

Beatles themed cocktail bar and museum

If you’re a fan of the Beatles you will fall in love with this bright little pub downtown. In fact, we think you’ll love it even if you’re not a fan!

Every available inch of space here is covered in the band’s memorabilia, with iconic album covers, paintings and posters giving the place a very lively feel. Vinyls are even stuck to the ceiling! City Club features classic wooden furniture and comfortable seating and the old classic of chairs by the bar.

Expect classic and Beatles themed cocktails, bottle and draft beer and wine by the glass here at City Club. The inventive themed cocktails are a must have, though we’ve heard nothing but good things about their raspberry Long Islands too.

The wings are also, hands down, some of the best in town, so you have to order some to go with your choice of drink! Overall this is easily one of the best bars in Ogden and a great place to visit with music afficionados to enjoy some good grub, great tunes and mixed drinks.
